Bloomsburg Women's Basketball Defeats Lock Haven, 67-63

LOCK HAVEN -- Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) scored a team-high 19 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 75-73 win over Lock Haven on Saturday.

The Lady Eagles jumped out fast in the game leading 11-2 before the Huskies came back with a 19-7 run to grab a 21-18 lead with 10:17 left in the half. Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) hit a couple of three-pointers and Gallagher added five points in the rally. Later Lock Haven took a six-point lead before a three-pointer at the buzzer by the Huskies Steph Rankin (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) sent Bloomsburg to the locker room at half trailing by one, 39-38.

The second half was tight throughout with Lock Haven getting its biggest lead of four points with 13:57 to play in the game, while the Huskies took their biggest lead of the game, five points on two occasions, the last coming with 1:42 to play on a pair of free throws by Gallagher.

Lock Haven did get within a point with nine seconds to play on a layup by Casi Donelan. But, after a free throw by Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J. Roberts) made it a two-point game, Donelan's shot to send the game into overtime rimmed out at the buzzer giving Bloomsburg the victory.

Along with Gallagher's 19 points, Joyce and Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) each added 15 points, while Healy chipped in with 11. Katie Kendall led Lock Haven with 21 points.

The Huskies improve to 7-2 with the win, while Lock Haven falls to 3-7. The Huskies visit Edinboro on Sunday at 1 p.m.
